José Luis Feliciano Vega, better known as Cheo Feliciano, a Puerto Rican composer and singer of salsa and bolero music died Thursday morning in a car accident in Puerto Rico, El Nuevo Día reports. He was 78.

It was 4:15 morning when he lost control of his car and had a massive accident. Injuries came on his head which were reported the cause of his death. Further it was reported that he wasn’t wearing a seat belt which was the reason he had such fatal injuries. The legendary salsa and bolero singer was born in the Puerto Rican city of Ponce in 1936.

"Father will live forever because he has given his music, his heart to his people," Feliciano’s son José Enrique told El Nuevo Día. "Thank God we have his music to remember him by."
