Funny and Bromantic 22 Jump Street Review

Last Updated: June 13, 2014

Like 21 Jump Street; Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) go undercover again in “22 Jump Street,” this time they go for an illegal drug ring threatened university. In this movie Jenko bonds with football star bigwig Zook (Wyatt Russell) and Schmidt connects with art student Maya (Amber Stevens) in the University.

Of all the comedy movies of 2014 this is the most anticipated, at least it was for me. So the question is: does it deliver on the high expectations? And the answer is: oh hell yes it does. This is no doubt the funniest movie I've seen since in year 2014.

A scene from the film 22 Jump Street featuring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.

As soon as they are on screen you immediately start smiling, just because you feel the need to prepare yourself for something amusing. Then when they do go about their shenanigans, numerous twists and turns occur that are fun to watch unfold, to hilarious effect. The jokes are fast paced and relentless, without it being tiresome. More importantly the comedy is actually clever, even during some of the scenarios the are more stupid due to some absurdity.

The combination of the comedic duo and the intelligent humor work flawlessly, making the flick all the more entertaining. The chemistry between Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum is incredible. The two actors, possibly providing the most homo erotic bromance ever seen on screen, undeniably contributing exceptional comic performances, confirming their ability to act in an all manner of roles.

The only purpose of a comedy is to make you laugh, and 22 Jump Street fulfills that requirement throughout the movie; even during the credits. If you enjoyed 21 Jump Street then you won't afford to miss this one too. It is well worth your time and money, so don't miss out on this one.
