Social Media can make anyone famous, even a gangster. This happened with Jeremy Meeks who was a gangster arrested by California Police in a crackdown on violent gang members in California.

This picture of Jeremy Meeks a 30 years old violent gang member was one of the top liked pictures this week. California police who started a facebook page in March 2012 to communicate with the public to create awareness and to post pictures of criminals, gangsters and wanted persons was glamorized by the above picture.

Jeremy Meeks arrested with charges of illegal weapons possession and relation to a violent gang of California has now become a worldwide celebrity. His bail set at $900,000 his page GoFundMe to get bail for him has already earned over $320. Many people have already shown their interest to provide bail money to him.

Thousands of facebook users visited the page and liked the above picture. Till Sunday the picture had above 42000 likes, 13200 comments and 4800 shares. The comments made were increasing as well as funny.

His family has a different view to the arrest made. They started a page to communicate with the public and said that Jeremy Meeks is wrongly affiliated with the group as he has nothing to do with that group. They further said that his tattoos on his body and face were the reason he was affiliated and arrested. He is a common working man with a small family.

“He's my son and he is so sweet,” his mother writes on the gofundme page. “Please help him to get a fair trial or else he'll be railroaded.”
